ASPECTOS GERAIS E ODONTOLÓGICOS EM INDIVÍDUOS COM SÍNDROME DE MOEBIUS: O MANEJO DO CIRURGIÃO-DENTISTA FRENTE A ELES
Resumo
A síndrome de Moebius é um distúrbio neurológico raro e complexo de aspecto não progressivo caracterizado por paralisia congênita do VII par craniano, podendo ser completa ou parcial, e pode ou não estar associada à paralisia de outros pares de nervos cranianos. De etiologia ainda não definida, foi descrita pela primeira vez em 1880. Dentre as principais alterações estão a face inexpressiva e importantes alterações orafaciais. Outras alterações incluem malformações nas extremidades dos membros e atraso cognitivo. Esta revisão de literatura discute os aspectos gerais e odontológicos que estão presentes nos pacientes com SM, bem como manejo adequado adotado pelo cirurgião dentista frente aos sinais e sintomas.
