PROCEDIMENTOS ESTATÍSTICOS APLICADOS À FALA DO INGLÊS COMO LÍNGUA ESTRANGEIRA
Resumo
Em virtude de dificuldades enfrentadas em se estruturar, quantificar, analisar, interpretar e reportar resultados de pesquisas em língua estrangeira (L2) de um ponto de vista analítico-sistemático, o presente artigo tem como objetivo mostrar como a matemática aplicada (via procedimentos estatísticos) pode realizar uma interface com a fonética e a fonologia de L2 a partir da análise da produção/não-produção da fricativa interdental não-vozeada /θ/ do inglês por alunos brasileiros de diferentes graus de escolaridade e, desta forma, potencializar as tomadas de decisão quanto à feitura de inferências por parte do pesquisador acerca do fenômeno.. Na Metodologia, realizamos um teste de Qui-quadrado tomando o valor proporcional das ocorrências de /θ/ e o grau de escolaridade (ensino fundamental, médio e superior) dos alunos. Nossos resultados apontaram que há uma correlação entre a (não) produção e o grau de escolaridade dos participantes. Com as observações realizadas a partir da estatística de testes, bem como, dadas as limitações deste estudo, podemos concluir que o fator escolaridade foi preponderante para a realização do referido segmento no inglês como L2.
